MonaLisa Touch Q & A

What is vaginal dryness?

When you think of menopause, you may think of annoying symptoms, such as hot flashes and night sweats. With menopause, your estrogen levels drop, which also affects your vaginal tissues.

Before or during menopause, you may notice that your vaginal lining is becoming thinner and dryer. You may feel other symptoms, such as itching and burning that make your intimate relations uncomfortable or even painful.

How is vaginal dryness treated?

Dr. Brooks at Arizona Specialized Gynecology may recommend MonaLisa Touch® to restore vaginal lubrication. The FDA-approved therapy uses laser energy to:

  • Increase vaginal moisture
  • Stimulate new collagen formation
  • Restore elasticity in your vagina canal

The treatment restores natural lubrication without hormones, downtime, or serious side effects.

How does MonaLisa Touch work?

MonaLisa Touch involves the use of a small C02 fractional laser. After the slim laser device is inserted into your vagina, it delivers laser pulses that stimulate the production of new collagen at the cellular level in your vaginal walls.

As the collagen networks form, this process naturally increases blood flow and lubrication. The treatment may help improve the natural function of your vagina.

What should I expect during MonaLisa Touch?

Dr. Brooks performs MonaLisa Touch therapy in a series of sessions in the convenience of Arizona Specialized Gynecology’s offices.  Although laser vaginal revitalization isn’t painful, Dr. Brooks usually applies an anesthetic cream before your procedure to reduce discomfort. The treatment lasts fewer than 30 minutes.

Your side effects are generally minimal, such as spotting or discharge. You’ll need to avoid sexual activity for two days to allow healing, but you can otherwise get back to all of your usual activities.

What is the O-Shot®?

The O-Shot, or orgasm shot, is a nonsurgical procedure that draws on the growth factors in the platelets in your own body. The platelets are run through a centrifuge to produce an enhanced concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein (PRP). Dr. Brooks then injects the PRP concentrate back into you.

The O-Shot stimulates vaginal and clitoral revitalization, activating your orgasm system. Patients who’ve received an O-Shot have reported an increase in their sexual response, and for many, the increase has been dramatic.

If you’re experiencing vaginal dryness, there’s no need to suffer in silence. Arizona Specialized Gynecology offers many options to restore your feminine wellness. Find out more today by calling or scheduling a consultation with Dr. Brooks.
